Detox & Relax Bath
Sometimes, there is nothing better than an old-fashioned remedy. One of my favorites is the Epsom Salt bath: excellent for soothing sore muscles, erasing tension and creating a feeling of well being and balance.
Check with your medical practitioner before doing this bath as it isn't recommended for people with high blood pressure, heart conditions, pregnancy or other health concerns.
Indications:
Excellent soaking bath for muscle soreness and general de-stressing. May be used as frequently as every day.
Ingredients:
Add to bath water that is as hot as you can comfortably withstand for up to 30 minutes:
1/2 - 1 cup of baking soda
1 cup of unrefined sea salt
1 cup of Epsom salts
Optionally, you may add the following essential oils - not to exceed 8 drops total. Hint: mix the essential oils with a little milk or honey for even dispersion in the bath water.
Juniper - antiseptic, warming & stimulating, lymphatic decongestant
Cypress - source of solace, astringent, blood regulator
Lavender - anti-inflammatory, cooling, soothes the heart
Eucalyptus - reduces mucous, fever reducing, great for the lungs
Peppermint - 2 drops maximum, adults only, do not use if epilepsy, high fever or heart disease - nerve tonic, brain stimulant, clears mucous
The following essential oils are phototoxic: stay out of the sun for at least 12 hours after using these oils:
Lemon - 2 drops maximum, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, calming.
Bergamot - antibacterial, antidepressant, calming
Grapefruit - digestive stimulant, lymphatic decongestant, reviving
